Mark suddenly turns from the Baptizer’s promise of the coming Christ to Jesus of Nazareth. “In those days” marks the general time during which John preached along the Jordan and baptized repentant Jews. Some time after John’s prediction, Jesus came to be baptized. The Son of God didn’t need to repent, of course.
